Panel Shop Supervisor

Job Summary

The purpose of this position will be to plan, organize, and direct the operations of the Panel Shop operations as well as participating in the fabrication of electrical control panels. This includes PLC and other instrument panels. Provide overall leadership for the Shop.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of area work processes. Lead the effort to develop new procedures as needed.
  • Schedule and Track Production hours; with detailed information on system, and job specific functions.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities for the department.
  • Provide administrative and technical training for the employees.
  • Provide technical assistance for other departments, hands-on when required.
  • Act as a liaison between engineering and shop personnel to supply adequate information (drawings, sketches, descriptions, etc.) to perform requested work.
  • Build / wire industrial control panels. Mount items in panels, run wiring, modify panel structures. Wire automated equipment as necessary. Install panels and instruments on skids. Run conduit and wiring to panels and instruments. Make terminations.
  • Read electrical wiring and layout prints.
  • Work at a pace to meet productivity and quality targets.
  • Work at a pace to meet productivity and quality targets. • Troubleshoot electrical systems and make recommendations for solutions. Provide general technical support .
  • Travel to customer sites on occasion as necessary to support customer operations and start ups. Make wiring terminations in panels and field devices. Inspect, troubleshoot, and install instruments in the field.
  • During the fabrication keep in contact with the project engineer to solve any questions or issues that may arise.
  • Maintain inventory of stocked parts.
  • Be available for new process start up and checkout as needed.
  • Apply basic knowledge of instrumentation, PLCs, drives, and other control equipment in accomplishing above duties.
  • Drive company or personal vehicles as required.
  • Monitor job quality. Be sure assigned quality checks have been completed and meet standards.
  • Monitor and enforce shop safety protocols. Maintain safety training and equipment inspection.
  • Other duties as needed.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required or a trade school equivalent (electrical component lay out, panel wiring, ladder diagrams, point to point, AC & DC drive systems, motion control, AB PLC, pneumatics, trouble shooting and testing).
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years’ electrical/control experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of project management experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizations skills.
  • Must be able to leverage technology to drive process improvements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications; (must be intermediate or higher in Excel skills).

Power Quality Technician Level 4

Job Summary

The Power Quality Specialist 4 position will be focused on third party Electrical QA/QC and commissioning. A Specialist is considered a lead position at Prism and a representative of our company and values. As a specialist you are expected to execute your job scope while training lower level technicians/specialists and build customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical QA/QC using NEC code, City requirements, and customer specification.
  • Confirm that installations match drawings and documents.
  • Document and report installation deficiencies found in the field.
  • Work with Contractors to coach and improve overall quality of installations.
  • Work with Contractors, General Contractors, system owners, and Authority Having Jurisdiction to resolve quality issues.
  • Review and audit electrical testing documentation.
  • Attend all associated coordination/planning/reporting/construction meetings.
  • Prioritize, organize, and execute work scope in a timely fashion.
  • Energize and De-energize approved equipment when needed.
  • Engage in personal, professional, and business development opportunities.
  • Respond to the direction of management.
  • Understand that job duties may change dependent on the specific project you are assigned.
  • Assist other Prism business departments within the company as needed.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelors in related field or (8+) years equivalent experience.
  • (8+) year’s experience as a base build electrical QA/QC and Commissioning agent, preferable semiconductor industry.
  • Knowledge and sound understanding of complex switching procedures and best practices for equipment such as but not limited to GIS, Low Voltage Switchgear, UPS’s, ATS’s, E-GEN’s, and more.
  • Knowledge of NETA ATS-MTS standards.
  • Osha -10, NEC code, NFPA-70E, City code, and Electrical print reading.

Panel Shop Technician I

Job Summary

Assemble and wire Industrial Control Panels, Electro/Mechanical sub-assemblies, and/or major assemblies built to internal and/or customer specified quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Build industrial control panels to UL508A standards and customer drawings/specifications
  • Comply with company and industry safety standards
  • Work with company procurement personnel to place orders for panel shop materials
  • Support procurement personnel to track order materials with vendors
  • Receive, warehouse, and inventory materials
  • Support procurement with inventory audits and control
  • Maintain workspace cleanliness and organization

Skills/Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent (Required)
  • Associates in Electronics/Electrical (Preferred)
  • Field Tech Experience
  • Basic Electrical Knowledge
  • 1-2 years building electrical panels or electrical installations (Preferred)
  • 1-2 years installing parts, wiring, testing (Preferred)
  • 1-2 years of production or mechanical related experience (wiring of industrial components, basic fabrication, or mechanical assemblies) (Preferred)
  • Ability to read schematics and electrical wiring diagrams (Preferred)
  • General mechanical aptitude for the assembly process (Preferred)
  • Can identify panel components physically and on schematic Wire Terminals, Transformers, relays, timers, PLCs etc. (Preferred)
